3-Ingredient Oven Late Summer Lifesaver

Ingredients

1 (26- to 32-ounce) bag frozen curly fries

1/2 cup barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and lightly coat a rimmed metal baking sheet with cooking spray or line it with parchment for easier cleanup.

2. Spread the frozen curly fries evenly on the baking sheet. Roast for 20 minutes, flipping once halfway through, until the edges start to crisp.

3. In a small bowl, stir together the barbecue sauce and brown sugar until smooth. Spoon and drizzle the mixture over the hot fries, then toss gently right on the pan to coat.

4. Return the pan to the oven and bake for 10 to 15 minutes more, stirring once, until the fries are deeply browned and the glaze is bubbling and caramelized. Serve hot.

Variations & Tips

Make-ahead timing: If you want dinner handled hours ahead, mix the barbecue sauce and brown sugar earlier in the day and keep it in the fridge. Then all you have to do at dinnertime is get the fries in the oven and finish with the glaze.

Crispier texture: Don’t crowd the pan. If the fries are piled too closely together, they steam instead of roast. Use two sheet pans if needed so more of those curly edges get browned and chewy-crisp.

Sweeter or smokier: Since there are only three ingredients, the flavor of the barbecue sauce really matters. A honey-style sauce will make the dish sweeter, while a smoky sauce gives it more cookout energy without any extra work.

Easy add-ons: If you’re okay stepping beyond the strict 3-ingredient idea at serving time, a little chopped parsley, sliced green onion, or a side of ranch can make it feel more complete for movie night or an easy casual dinner.
