Slow Cooker 4-Ingredient Iced Apple Crisp Espresso Fudge

This slow cooker 4-ingredient iced apple crisp espresso fudge is the kind of low-effort autumn sweet that feels a little nostalgic and a little clever at the same time. It leans on the classic fall pairing of apple and cinnamon, adds a mellow coffee note from espresso, and turns it all into a soft, sliceable fudge with a crumbly apple-crisp style finish. Using the slow cooker makes the melting gentle and forgiving, which is especially helpful for a small-batch dessert meant for sharing at bonfires, bake sales, or holiday trays.

Serve small squares with hot coffee, chai, or mulled cider, since the fudge is rich and benefits from a warm drink alongside it. For a dessert platter, pair it with sliced apples, vanilla ice cream, or salted roasted nuts to balance the sweetness. It also fits nicely on a fall sweets board with caramel popcorn and oatmeal cookies.

Ingredients

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

2 cups white chocolate chips
1 cup apple butter
1 cup cinnamon oat granola, lightly crushed

Directions

1. Line an 8-inch square pan or small baking dish with parchment paper, leaving overhang on two sides so the fudge can be lifted out easily later.

2. Add the semisweet chocolate chips to one heatproof bowl and the white chocolate chips to another. Set both bowls in a slow cooker with a few inches of hot water, cover, and heat on low until the chocolate is softened and ready to stir, about 20 to 30 minutes.

3. Stir the semisweet chocolate until smooth, then stir in half of the apple butter. Stir the white chocolate until smooth, then fold in the remaining apple butter just enough to create soft ribbons rather than fully blending it.

4. Spread the semisweet chocolate mixture into the prepared pan. Spoon the white chocolate mixture over the top and use a butter knife to gently swirl the two layers together.

5. Sprinkle the crushed cinnamon oat granola evenly over the top, pressing very lightly so it adheres without sinking too deeply into the fudge.

6. Cover and refrigerate until firm, about 3 hours, or until the slab is set enough to slice cleanly. Lift from the pan, drizzle with a little extra melted white chocolate if desired for the iced look, then cut into 16 squares and serve.

Variations & Tips

Stronger coffee flavor: If you want the espresso note to stand out more clearly, dissolve 1 to 2 teaspoons of instant espresso powder into the semisweet chocolate as it melts. It deepens the flavor without changing the simple method much.

Smoother texture: For the cleanest slices, let the fudge sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before cutting and use a large knife wiped clean between cuts. This keeps the swirls distinct instead of smearing the layers.

Apple pie version: Swap the cinnamon oat granola for crushed gingersnaps or cinnamon graham crackers for a more dessert-bar style topping. This creates a finer crumb and gives the top a more pie-like finish.

Storage tip: Store the fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week, separating layers with parchment if stacking. Because of the apple butter, chilled storage keeps the texture firmer and the slices more attractive.
